"Bathroom Bill" - DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES!

This campaign season has been one like no other. I don’t know if it is the tone that the national races have set or what, but this primary election it appears that all civility and honesty have been thrown out the window. I decided to write this to let you know that,YOU ARE BEING LIED TO! Yes, lied to, and it is easily proven!

Don’t Believe the Lies

Dear Neighbor,

This campaign season has been one like no other. I don’t know if it is the tone that the national races have set or what, but this primary election it appears that all civility and honesty have been thrown out the window. I decided to write this to let you know that,YOU ARE BEING LIED TO! Yes, lied to, and it is easily proven!

I believe that you, the voters, deserve an honest discussion of the issues. You want the facts so you can make an informed decision about which candidates earn your vote.

This election cycle I’ve really tried to stay above the fray and not get into the mud with my opponent. I believe that I have more and better experience and vision for the future of Nevada and that these are the things that are most important to you.

Unfortunately, the opposition has muddied the waters with a slew of lies, distortions and baseless attacks. So I wanted to clear things up for you so you can make a decision based upon the facts.

Last legislative cycle there were legislators who were useless to their constituents and the people of Nevada. You know the types, they just sit back and criticize anyone who is actually working, trying to solve the problems Nevada faces. This type of legislator only works on bills that will benefit them personally.

It became very obvious to anyone in Carson City how useless and undeserving of leadership roles these people were. When they did not earn any responsibility or leadership positions they decided that they would do whatever dirty trick it took to take over leadership. And if they couldn’t do that they would mindlessly oppose those who were working to make Nevada a better place to live. The historic accomplishments of the 2015 Nevada Legislature were made in spite of these people, not because of them.

Now, not having anything positive to run on, these people are lying about what actually happened at the Legislature. Well, I can no longer sit back and let my friends and neighbors be lied to. I have attached these other pages to address the two main attacks they are making. The final page is a quick links to media links so you can verify everything that I am saying yourself.

I know this is a lot of information and the majority of folks haven’t even read this far, but I ask you to please take the 5 minutes to make an educated vote.

Sincerely,

Paul Anderson

Truth about the “Bathroom Bill” transgender hysteria

There have been several mailers, blogs, emails, and social media posts saying that there is a “Bathroom Bill” that passed that will allow boys in girls’ locker rooms and showers at school.

The only way I can describe these are, Blatant Lies by Political Opportunists.

THE LIE:  SB504 (or Senate Bill 504) is a “Bathroom Bill”.  The liars are saying “this bill gives special rights to transgender children to use showers, locker rooms and restrooms. It allows teenage boys to shower with your daughters”.

THE FACT:  SB504 is an anti-bullying bill designed to protect our kids that became a high priority following the suicides of children that were being bullied by fellow students. The bill creates an office in the Nevada Department of Education that helps coordinate state standards related to bullying issues identified in the state.

THE LIE:  The bill was passed secretly and none of the legislators had a chance to read the bill.

THE FACT:  SB504 had 17 hearings in the Nevada Senate and Assembly and it was 48 days from the time it was introduced to the time the Assembly voted on it. Not once in any of the 17 hearings, or during the months the bill was discussed, did anyone testify, argue, or even mention the idea that SB504 had anything at all to do with issues related to transgender students and bathroom/shower use.

If after 17 hearings (see below for links) and more than a month and a half on the docket a legislator says they didn’t read the bill then then that legislator shouldn’t be there.

THE LIE:  There is hidden language in SB504 that allows boys to use girl’s restrooms, showers, and locker rooms.

THE FACT:  This one is sickening. This is the line in the bill they claim does this:  “(f) Blocking access to any property or facility of a school;” Really? This is a bullying bill. It is rules regarding student interactions with each other, not school administrators. It’s hard to imagine how they even made this lie up. If this lie was true, it would also give students access to teachers lounges and administrative offices.

These are exactly the types of disgusting attacks that turn people off of politics and keep good people from becoming involved!

If they are willing to lie about this, what else are they lying about?

Conclusion: a super-majority of legislators came together after all those hearings and revisions with an understanding that we needed to have an office dedicated to the protection our kids at school.  It’s NOT OK to say bullying is just part of growing up.  It follows our kid’s home through social media, and we must do better.

SB504 is a bill that protects Nevada’s children – those are simply the facts.
